Who is the light?

“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:14‭-‬16 AMP

By now we all should know that we are living in a dark world. One where murdering is supported as “a right”. Where children are being negatively influenced and encouraged to change their true identity and image. Where a secular song sang or rapped is opening the door to the devils will in a person’s life and mind. Where the long term efforts of hard work and genuine labor is avoided and looked upon as outdated. Where earthquakes and hurricanes are increasingly destroying towns, homes, and killing many families. We have come to a time where Jesus second appearance is right around the corner.

In spite of such darkness in the world, Jesus have given direct understanding of our part and who we are. He says “You are the light”. You may be asking “what does that mean”? Simply put you are the example that points the world to God. However, this begins when you have first made Jesus the Lord of your life and have become born again. (Check out the previous blog on details about being born again)

It is only having the light in us that we can exemplify “The Light”. As the scripture points out “no one lights a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand and it gives light to all who are in the house.” This indicates the light is not to be hidden, and is needed for more than just the one who radiates it. In hearing Jesus tell us this, we can conclude that we are not to be hidden when we’re walking and following His footsteps, but we must be bold in the Lord and in the power of His might; it is our commitment and obedience to His ways that benefit those around us as well as our own lives. So we can’t afford to be in unbelief, nor speaking death from our mouths. We can’t afford to not be in tuned with the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to guide our every step and decision. We can’t afford to be voting against God’s ways and principles and putting wicked leaders in authority. Nor can we afford to be engaging with the devil and allowing fear and his demons to torment us.

Jesus needs us to stand up and be the light in the midst of all the wickedness and darkness. The world needs to hear about Him, believe and receive Him, and come to know and follow Him because they are headed to a devil’s hell. However, this only happens when we commit to the Lord by committing to doing, thinking, and talking His way while continuing to share the good report of the savior. The best part about that is He has given us all we need to boldly proclaim the good news, walk up right before Him, operate in the victory and authority He has paid for us, and SHINE BRIGHT. When we do this, our Heavenly Father God can get ALL the Glory that is due Him and others will come to the knowledge of Truth!

So we ask, “Are you the light”? If your answer is yes then lastly, “are you shining bright in this dark world”? Selah!
